Like most tech companies, we encourage our teams to use AI in their day-to-day roles to streamline processes and optimise workflows.
We are open to candidates using AI in their applications, but we don’t want AI to replace the human - we want to get to know you, your talents, experience, and values.
This is our guide on how to use AI responsibly during our interview process.
When you submit your CV and optional cover letter, our Talent team does an initial review of whether you have the skills and experience to do the job we’re hiring for.
At this stage, it’s fine if you use AI to draft your CV or cover letter, as long as you check and refine it yourself. AI helps spot spelling mistakes or formatting errors and can also provide feedback on the clarity of your writing (e.g., if you have included examples of your work, do they read well and make sense to the reader?).
Before you even submit your application, you might want to use AI to do some research on Street Group and our products, to make sure we’re the right fit for you!
We do not advise using AI to write your cover letter completely. We receive a lot of AI-generated cover letters, and it’s very obvious; they use the same language, are super generic, and don’t add anything to your application. If you want to stand out, write your cover letter yourself! It’s you we want to get to know.
It’s absolutely not acceptable to use AI to make up examples of work you haven’t done in the past. We rarely find candidates who tick every single box we’re looking for, and we specifically mention on our job ads that if you don’t tick all the boxes, you can still apply anyway. Don’t use AI to misrepresent you, your experience or your technical abilities.
Our tasks are designed to get a feel for how you approach a piece of work; your mindset, your approach, and your problem-solving abilities.
So, if you use AI during your day-to-day role, it’s fine to use it to help you complete the task. However, it’s not ok to get an AI to complete the task for you. It’s very easy to spot, and we won’t be progressing with your application.
If you are unsure about your usage of AI, and want to check with us before submitting your task, we’re more than happy to speak to you about what you’re thinking of using it for. We’d rather have that conversation upfront!
AI can be really helpful in preparing for interviews. For example, you could use ChatGPT to help with your research on Street Group and/or our products (although we’ll send you lots of resources too, to help you with that).
You could share the job description and what you know of the role so far, and ask AI what sorts of interview questions may be asked. You can then prepare answers based on your experience, so you’re feeling confident walking into the interview.
You could also share examples of work you’ve done and ask AI to reformat your examples into the STARR framework, so you’ve got some structure to assist with answering interview questions. There are even tools where you can practice interviewing and get feedback - useful if you haven’t interviewed in a while!
We feel very strongly about candidates using AI tools to give you the “right” answers during video interviews. For a multitude of reasons, this is a dealbreaker for us, and we would not progress with your application.
One of our core values is inclusivity is non-negotiable. We want to make it clear that if you need to use AI tools (such as an AI notetaker during an interview) as a reasonable adjustment, we are more than supportive of this. Please just speak to us about your requests for reasonable adjustments, and we can make sure our hiring teams know how best to support you.
